Global Warming’s ‘Dirty Laundry’

Those who say man alone is responsible for overheating the planet frequently dismiss any role the sun might play. As can be seen in an ongoing freedom-of-information lawsuit leveled against the University of Virginia (UVA), sunshine is precisely what the heralds of climate catastrophe fear most of all.

The American Tradition Institute (ATI) is going after 12,000 emails sent or received by Michael E. Mann while he was on the staff of the publicly-funded university. Mr. Mann is famous for coming up with one of the “tricks” used to “hide the decline” in global temperatures. On Wednesday, ATI released a small selection of emails it hopes will convince a Prince William County judge that full disclosure of the rest is in the public interest.

In March 2003, for example, a trusted colleague of Mr. Mann’s emailed to find out how the UVA professor arrived at his conclusions. Mr. Mann admitted he was missing crucial data and “can’t seem to dig them up.” Though he was working on this project on the taxpayers’ dime, he provided the information for the researcher’s personal use only. “So please don’t pass this along to others without checking w/ me first,” Mr. Mann wrote. “This is the sort of ‘dirty laundry’ one doesn’t want to fall into the hands of those who might potentially try to distort things.”

    95% of the worlds climatologists are all wrong..and a few American right wingers protecting the Oil and coal companies are all correct. Meanwhile, Polar Bears struggle to find a sliver of ice to rest upon, and well respected researchers keep confirming over and over again, the science that ties man’s activity to the rise in temperatures. Aerial photos of disappearing ice are meaningless, carbon data is meaningless, and the earth is only 10,000 years old. LOL.

    Yet, many elected Republicans who have fought the overwhelming evidence for years, are now simply finding it it impossible to be a viable politician unless at some point, they embrace reality. For the rest of the “die hard” deniers who embrace all kinds of fallacy in their lives I say..Your views have gotten as antiquated as bell bottoms, but carry on!.

      Global warming is one of the biggest frauds ever perpertrated by left wing trash like “inventor of the internet” Al Gore. NASA has already disproved this phony science. We are not going to have a meltdown of the polar caps. Climate is cyclical and anyone who ascribes to this nutjob science is seriously in need of looking up the truth. Sunspots have a lot to do with climatic changes.

        One correction. It IS the biggest fraud ever forced upon this world and we can only hope that our retribution and new revelations will shine light on most of the other frauds that the Socialists of this world and freedom will once again be the course where failure is NOT an option.

        First we need to remove Obama in November and then we can begin to turn the tide of lies from the media and that truth…real truth will be the law of the land as it was when God first created this Universe.

        Stand strong. Do not spend money at Liberal businesses. Flood the Congress with the will of the people.

        I further strongly feel that Mitt Romney must NOT win the nomination to face Obama. Mitt is a wolf in a wolf’s clothing. Look at his past and the things he believes now. Look at the Mormon church and make yourselves aware of the kind of mind that Mitt uses to declare truth.

      John, where is there any evidence that polara bears have a scarcity of ice? Those phony photographs don’t prove anything but your lies, because if they had panned the cameras around a few degrees it would have revealed the phoniness big time. In Dec 2010, the US Navy who finds it critical to keep an accurate measure of Arctic ice so that the nuclear subs can navigate under the ice safely released a report statint that Arctic ice had INCREASED by 27 % from just the year before. The ice is not only cyclic from year to year, but from edge to center. When the edges thin, the center thickens and vice versa.

      Have you been North of Los Angeles in the last couple of years? For some reason, the Arctic Ocean is frozen solid and Alaska is “enjoying” multiples of their annual snow falls, with months of Winter yet to come.

        Alaska is getting more snow because it is warmer. The Alaska winter thus far has been the mildest on record. And the Arctic Ocean freezes over ever winter. But in summer, the Artic ice shield has been shrinking every year. Now ships can navigate the Northwest Passage.

      A voice of reason in the Front Porch Politics Jungle! Nobody claims that the sun is not a factor in earth’s climate. We may indeed be in a natural cooling cycle as predicted 50 years ago, offset by human influence.
      All who deny that the climate is getting warmer, and that man is the main reason, and that it doesn’t matter anyway are in deep denial because they want to continue in our wasteful ways.
      Don’t know where author of this article found his information, but 2011 was the 11th warmest year on record and 2010 the warmest.

        Here is some additional information:
        Not that author states : “Most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations.” He does not claim that all warming is caused by humans.
        The time series (which I could not copy) shows the combined global land and marine surface temperature record from 1850 to 2010. According to the method of calculation used by CRU, the year 2010 was the equal third (see footnote) warmest on record (with 2003), exceeded by 1998 and 2005. The years 2003, 2005 and 2010 are only distinguishable in the third decimal place. The error estimate for individual years (two standard errors is about ±0.1°C, see Brohan et al., 2006) is at least ten times larger than the differences between these three years.

        The period 2001-2010 (0.44°C above 1961-90 mean) was 0.20°C warmer than the 1991-2000 decade (0.24°C above 1961-90 mean). The warmest year of the entire series has been 1998, with a temperature of 0.55°C above the 1961-90 mean. After 1998, the next nine warmest years in the series are all in the decade 2001-2010. During this decade, only 2008 is not in the ten warmest years. Even though 2008 was the coldest year of the 21st century it was still the 12th warmest year of the whole record.

        This time series is compiled jointly by the Climatic Research Unit and the UK Met. Office Hadley Centre. Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activities are most likely the underlying cause of warming in the 20th century. The warmth or coldness of individual years is strongly influenced by whether there was an El Niño or a La Niña event occurring in the equatorial Pacific Ocean (see Information Sheet 12).

        The Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change in its most recent report in 2007 stated:

        ‘Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global average sea level.’

        ‘Most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations. This is an advance since the TAR’s conclusion that “most of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations”. Discernible human influences now extend to other aspects of climate, including ocean warming, continental-average temperatures, temperature extremes and wind patterns’

    This story illustrates how this “global warming” story is being couched in a way so as to be misleading. I don’t think ANY of the experts are saying that man alone is responsible for global climate change. What they have been saying, however, is that global climate change seems to be occurring as part of a larger, poorly-understood cycle, and man is contributing to its acceleration. That’s what the experts are saying.

      It is all a Hoax just to collect carbon tax. Blame the people and make them pay that is the motto of the global elite….The global warming hoax is just one of many….we are living in matrix of lies created by the global cartel and the governments world wide….what a disgusting pity more people don’t just “wake up” and search for the truth of who actually runs the world….it is certainly NOT our politicians…they are puppets whom are paid well to play the roll….they should all receive academy awards for their superb “acting”.

    Actually, the quack scientists are saying that trace gases such as CO2 and carbon emissions have caused and/or exacerbated global warming. It’s fairly clear that the planet’s climate has cycles, wobbling from warming to cooling. Most scientists now believe the earth has begun to cool.

    Mr. Mann is the hockey stick king. Mr. Mann is the Dr. Frankenstein of scientists, attempting to use and pervert a natural phenomenon for his own purposes and those of his financial masters, the UN IPCC. Imagine all the loot that can be gathered in the name of combating AGW, from carbon taxes to manipulation of industry and agriculture.

    Oh, and one other thing, leave the polar bears out it. The eskimos report the damn things are thick as fleas since they were put on the endangered list (on the basis of 3 bear corpses floating in the sea).

      Not true. 95% of all scientists are in agreement that the earth is getting warmer. The only disagreement is on how bad the consequences will be. Some say it will be not so bad, while others say it will be catastrophic – mostly because climate change will cause mass migrations. Actually, these have already started and may be the root cause of troubles in Africa and other countries near the equator.

    Just like little kids who’ve gotten caught doing something wrong, they’ll lie like rugs to keep anyone from finding out. When anthropogenic global warming is totally debunked they’ll have to go find some other way to make money from the public’s pocket. That might involve work.

    ..for all you global warming loons here, next time it rains, do this. Go out into your backyard or your little parking space by your apartment or whatever it is where you live, and make it stop raining. Try your best.
    For those of you who succeeded in stopping the rain, we want a full report. But until one of you loons does that, you guys go sell crazy somewhere’s else….!!
